Like a surfer riding a wave in Santa Barbara, my life is very relaxed and fun, but with one small mistake I can fall into the waters of stress and embarrassment. Living “close to the edge” is fun sometimes, but I would rather have a nice, relaxing day over anything. My name is Michael M and I am currently a freshman in high school.
Everyone has goals. Wether it’s something small or something that may take years to accomplish, goals are an important part of peoples lives today. I for one, have several goals I want to accomplish by the end of the year. My first goal is to bring up all my grades to A’s. I think that if I do this I will have better chances of getting into a good college and will be in less trouble with my parents. Of course to accomplish this goal, I will have to do well on tests and pay close attention in class. Because I am doing both AYSO soccer and VHS Cross Country, I think that it is very important to manage my time well, and to stop procrastinating like I did in middle school.
In sports, I will strive to be the best I can be in cross country, and in AYSO. For cross country, I will eat nutritious food and and get just enough sleep every night so I can be as healthy as possible. Everyday at practice I will try to work on my running form and speed, and do the best I can for that workout. Outside of the sports, I will try to work on my upper body strength since I’m so skinny. I have made several friends from sports and I hope to make more as the year goes by.
One of my main goals this year is to be more outgoing and less quiet and shy. I will try to make as many friends as possible, and learn to talk comfortably with my peers. By being nice to everyone, and by joining clubs, I think I will be able to do this. I want people to get to know who I am, and to stop being that shy kid in the corner. I think by learning to be charismatic, I will be able to succeed later in life.
Apart from the goals in school, I have several I want to accomplish when I am much older. I would really like to have a job that allows me to visit other countries in the world. If not, I would like to become an archeologist or architect. Before I die, I would like to visit seven or more countries, and live a relaxing life, with occasional bits of excitement here or there. Old age is apparently hard for some people, so I will try my best at staying in shape, and always having something to do. I am never happy when I am bored so I feel that if I remain optimistic, I will be able to accomplish anything.
I came to this school because I felt that I needed a challenge in my life. It is nothing like the rumors people have said about it, (well, except about the homework) and I think that with this school, and with these goals, I will be able to graduate with straight A’s and many friends.
